Edward L. Patterson was a music educator who began his career at Parker-Gray High School as an instrumental music instructor and a social studies teacher. He would become an Assistant Principal and eventually become principal at the school where he began his illustrious teaching career.
Jacqueline LaMarr Henry-Green

Jacqueline LaMarr Henry-Green was one of Alexandria’s premier African American music educators. She was an outstanding voice, piano and music theory teacher at Parker-Gray High School.
Dr. Arthur C. Dawkins
Music Educator / Musician / Principal
Dr. Arthur C. Dawkins, a talented musician and extraordinary music educator, graduated from segregated ACPS in 1952. He became a vice principal at T.C Williams High School. At Howard University he chaired the jazz studies department, taught music business, and established the school’s jazz studies graduate program for over 30 years. He was the founder of the Howard University Jazz Repertory Orchestra.
